Just came across this insane law. Anyone doing some Home DIY repairs or building should be seriously careful: Forget speeding or committing a burglary – all you need do to risk getting a criminal record is walk home with your flatpack shelving kit.
"Section 54 of the Metropolitan Police Act 1839 makes it an offence to carry a plank across the pavement in London. Maximum fine: £500.
That's just crazy, but then again so are most DIY folk if you think about it. Perhaps my next post might be on why to hire a proper handyman instead of doing it yourself. Now about those bizarre injuries...
